Iloilo City cancels Monday satellite voter registration for April

ILOILO CITY — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has canceled satellite voter registration activities scheduled on April 6, 13, and 27 in Iloilo City as part of nationwide energy conservation measures under a state of national energy emergency.
In a public advisory issued Monday, the Comelec Iloilo City Office said the cancellations cover all Monday schedules in April, in compliance with Executive Order No. 110 and Comelec Minute Resolution No. 26-0245, which mandate the postponement of nonessential activities and the implementation of work-from-home arrangements.
Affected registration venues include Atrium Mall Iloilo (April 6), Mary Mart Mall Iloilo (April 13), and a satellite site in Barangay Loboc, Lapuz (April 27). The poll body clarified that satellite voter registration will resume from Tuesday to Saturday, following the existing schedule.
The move is part of broader government efforts to reduce energy consumption amid ongoing power supply concerns, which have prompted operational adjustments across public offices nationwide.

Despite the cancellations, Comelec urged eligible voters to take advantage of the remaining registration days in preparation for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Satellite registration services include new voter registration, transfer of records within or outside Iloilo City, reactivation of voter status, correction of entries, change of civil status, and participation in the Register Anywhere Program (RAP).
Earlier, Comelec released a month-long schedule of satellite registration in Iloilo City, including mall-based and barangay-level venues, to make services more accessible to the public. The adjustment, however, removes all Monday operations in line with the government’s energy-saving directive.
Authorities reiterated their call for the public to complete voter registration early, noting that no extensions are guaranteed as preparations for the BSKE continue./coa
