Cory heads provisional government, says Enrile

MINISTER JUAN Ponce Enrile announced over radio station DZRB at 10:26 am. that a provisional government with Corazon Aquino as president and Salvador Laurel as vice president has been organized and its cabinet being formed.

Enrile made the announcement as he called on the people to return en masse to their stations around Camp Crame — an aide earlier said they should generate a strength of 3 million — to prevent Marcos troops from penetrating through to the stronghold in a last-ditch show of force.

Enrile said that militarily, the camp is protected by four batallions of soldiers plus the strike group of helicopter gunships belonging to the 5th Fighter Wing of the Philippine Air Force.

“The entire 5th Fighter Wing is ours already,” Enrile said.

In his appeal for one final show of massive people power, Enrile said: “May problema pa tayo. Nandito pa pala si Marcos. Kailangan bumalik ang mga tao sa kalye para hindi nila magamit sa atin ang mga tangke. Talagang ipaglalaban na natin ang ating bayan ngayon.”
