MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) received two images of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage from the Antipolo Cathedral as a gift.
This gesture was marked by a Mass for Peace at the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, or Antipolo Cathedral, highlighting the chaplaincy’s goal to foster spiritual closeness among uniformed personnel, said Catholic online church media Radio Veritas in a report on Saturday.
These images will be sent to the West Philippine Sea and will be displayed in one of the chapels currently under construction in the area.

Rev. Fr. Commander Lowie A. Palines, chief chaplain of the PCG, thanked Rev. Fr. Reynante Tolentino for the gesture.
Tolentino is also the rector of the Antipolo Cathedral.
“First of all, I want to thank the Rector of the Antipolo Shrine, the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace, and Good Voyage. The patroness of the Virgin of Antipolo is the same in Antipolo and here in the Philippine Coast Guard,” Palines said in a Radio Veritas interview.

He added, “Thank you very much to all those who assisted us in providing an image, as our primary objective is to include our Philippine Coast Guard personnel and officers in our prayers with the Blessed Virgin Mary.”
Meanwhile, Tolentino said that the gifting of two Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage images is timely, as the world is facing conflicts, particularly in disputed territories.
“So all of us brothers and sisters, let’s pray together for the peace of our country and our world. We know that we need peace, especially the peace that comes from Christ that the Virgin of Antipolo brings us,” he said.
