Isko Moreno Vows to Open Baseco Hospital, Remove Online Scheduling in Health Centres

Isko Moreno

Mayoral candidate Isko Moreno has pledged to open the Baseco Hospital in Manila in December, three years after its completion, and to remove the online scheduling system in health centers to restore walk-in consultations for Manila residents.

Moreno made these commitments during a medical mission in Barangay 378, Oroquieta Road, Santa Cruz, Manila, where residents received free dental services, medical consultations, and ophthalmology check-ups.

“First, we will open Baseco Hospital. It’s disheartening that it was completed three years ago, yet it still hasn’t opened. We made a commitment to the people of Baseco, and with God’s grace, we will open it this December,” he said in Filipino.

Alongside reopening the hospital, Moreno said he plans to abolish the online scheduling system in Manila’s health centers and return to the previous system, where residents could consult doctors and receive free medicines anytime.

“Of course, we will remove the online scheduling system in health centers. We will restore the old system where people can consult a doctor anytime and receive medicines, maintenance drugs, and vitamins in health centers, which are our frontline healthcare services,” he said in Filipino.

He also raised concerns about diagnostic machines, such as MRI and CT scan equipment, which he claimed are not being used despite being brand-new.

“We will ensure that our diagnostic machines are operational. The MRI and CT scan machines, which are all brand-new, don’t seem to be used. It’s not that they’re broken—I don’t know why. But when I asked the people of Manila, it seems they haven’t been able to use them,” he said in Filipino.

Moreno emphasized his focus on essential public services, reiterating his commitment to minimum basic needs: healthcare, education, housing, and jobs.

“We are believers in MBN—minimum basic needs. We will always respond to the needs of the people in healthcare, education, housing, and jobs,” he said.

With these commitments, Moreno aims to restore and improve Manila’s healthcare system, ensuring accessible medical services for all residents.

As the election draws near, his promises to reopen hospitals, provide free medicines, and maximize healthcare resources will be closely watched by Manileños who seek real change in the city’s medical services.
