MANILA, Philippines— No, you won’t see Willie Revillame debating in English in the Senate should he get elected in the May 2025 polls.

Rather, Revillame said he would give all his heart to the poor by crafting laws that would improve their lives.

Hindi ako magpapagaling dahil hindi ako abogado,”  said the senatorial wannabe  in a speech  after a flag raising ceremony in Quezon City on Monday.

(But I will give my heart to the poor. I will make laws so that our fellow countrymen can live well.)

If he won, Revillame also vowed to prioritize the poor over corruption.

He noted that whenever he talked to people, he was often told that poverty and corruption are among the biggest problems confronting the country today.

Sasabihin kaagad, korapsyon, paghihirap,” he  said.

(I keep asking, what is the problem of the country? They immediately say, corruption, poverty)

(But for me, I would prioritize the poor over corruption. Do you know why? So our poor countrymen can live longer, because many laws have already been made about corruption.)

Besides, Revillame thinks there are already many laws against corruption but none have been jailed for it.

“Meron na bang  nakulong sa korapsyon for how many  years?”  he asked. “Puro  kinasuhan, pinatawag  sa Senado. May nakulong ba?”

(Has anyone been imprisoned for corruption for how many years? They’ve been charged, called to the Senate. Has anyone been imprisoned?)
