Senatorial candidate and Las Piñas City Rep. Camille Villar took her campaign to the grassroots on Tuesday, meeting with local officials in Iloilo and Palawan to highlight the critical role of barangays in governance and service delivery.
Speaking at the Liga ng mga Barangay ng Cebu convention at the Iloilo Convention Center, Villar emphasized how barangay leaders serve as the backbone of government efforts to bring essential services closer to communities.
With over 42,000 barangays nationwide, she noted that local units play a crucial role in ensuring that programs on healthcare, social welfare, and livelihood reach every Filipino family.
“Barangays are the heart of our communities. Strengthening them means strengthening the government’s ability to uplift the lives of our people,” Villar said.
She vowed to push for measures that would enhance support for barangay officials, including additional benefits and resources to help them effectively carry out their duties.
As a two-term legislator, Villar has been a strong advocate for job creation, entrepreneurship, and housing programs.
She has also backed initiatives aimed at improving maternal and reproductive health, as well as policies that advance women’s rights.
“From the very beginning, I have been advocating for laws that promote livelihood, create jobs, and help Filipinos achieve their dream of owning a home. I will continue to push for these,” Villar told the audience.

Addressing criticisms, Villar said she remains committed to delivering efficient and results-driven public service, embodying the “Sipag at Tiyaga” (hard work and perseverance) mantra associated with the Villar family.
“I will be your new voice in the Senate so that we can address the needs of every Filipino family,” she said.
From Iloilo, Villar held a motorcade in Capiz, where she engaged with local mayors at the Capiz Provincial Capitol before flying to Palawan.
In Puerto Princesa, Palawan, she addressed the Liga ng mga Barangay ng Cavite, reiterating her commitment to grassroots empowerment and inclusive development.
With the 2025 midterm elections fast approaching, Villar’s direct engagement with barangay leaders signals a campaign strategy rooted in community-driven governance—one that aims to bridge the gap between national policies and local realities.
