1Pacman tells how sports adds might to nation-building
Power of preparation combined with the advantage of critical thinking – these are two elements that define athletes and the qualities that are good to develop in the Filipino youth.
This view was shared by 1Pacman Party-list first nominee Milka Romero during an early morning radio interview.
Romero is an active socio-civic, business and sports leader who strongly advocates the development of sports all over the Philippines with the 1Pacman Party-list.
“Ibang iba ang nahuhubog na disiplina ng atleta para sa paghahanda. At pag nasa kumpetisyon na, maaasahan nya na magtatagumpay ang critical thinking,” she said.
(The discipline molded by an athlete is very different. And when one is already in competition, the athlete can expect that critical thinking will win.)
“Kailangang mabasa nya ng husto ang nasa paligid nya at ma-anticipate ang kilos ng kalaban,” she noted.
(The athlete must be able to clearly read the surroundings and anticipate the movement of the enemy.)
Romero has worked with her father, outgoing 3-termer 1Pacman Party list Representative Mikee Romero, in his socio-civic outreach projects.
These projects include the ‘Save-a-Heart’ program that has provided help to some 2,000 children of needy families.
In his last term heading the House Committee on Poverty Alleviation, Romero pushed for the return of assistance to some 1,000,000 recipients of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
He also worked for the big increase in the 4Ps budget for 2025 by P7.9 billion.
The younger Romero, now 31 years old, co-owns with her sister Mandy’s two women’s professional sports team, including Capital1 Solar Spikers.
The players compete in the Professional Volleyball League.
The newly-launched Capital1 Solar Strikers will play in the Women’s League of the Philippine Football Federation.
