Alyansa campaign manager denies talks with Pangilinan-Aquino camp

MANILA, Philippines — The campaign manager of the Senate slate backed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. denied that there were talks between them and the camp of independent Senate bets Kiko Pangilinan and Bam Aquino.

Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas campaign manager Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco denied the Manila Times report on Wednesday, which cited a reliable source, about the supposed meeting.

“That’s completely untrue,” Tiangco said in a statement. “I haven’t met with Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan.”

“The Alyansa slate is solid and fully aligned with President Bongbong Marcos’ agenda,” he added.

Such talks emerged the same day presidential sister Sen. Imee Marcos officially withdrawn from the administration-backed alliance.

Most or nine out of 11 Alyansa senatorial candidates made it to the latest Social Weather Stations’s survey on the Senate’s “Magic 12” released on Wednesday.

This did not include Sen. Marcos, who ranked 16th in the SWS survey.

On the other hand, Pangilinan and Aquino ranked 14th and 15th in the SWS survey, respectively.
