MANILA, Philippines – Senatorial aspirant Camille Villar batted for gender equality and inclusive society when she joined on Wednesday the culmination program of the 2025 National Women’s Month Celebration in Baybay, Leyte.
Villar thanked Philippine Councilor’s League Chapter President Carmen Cari, Mayor Boy Cari, Vice-Mayor Ernesto Butawan, Rep. Carl Nicolas Cari, and local officials for inviting her to the celebration of Women’s Month.
In her speech, Villar urged women to continue strenthening their hold in local governance even as they engage in multiple roles in the family and their chosen careers.
“Ang bahagi ng pag asenso at pag papaganda ng isang syudad ay dahil sa mga kababaihan. Dahil tayo po ay hindi lang ilaw ng ating tahanan, tayo din ang ilaw sa ating mga syudad,” she said.
“Nakikiisa po kami sa inyong lahat,” Villar added, addressing the crowd.
“One month is not enough to celebrate what women can do… not just in our families, but also in the provinces,” Villar said.
Villar has vowed to refile her priority measures such as the Pregnant Women Welfare Act, Equal Maternity Protection Act once elected in the Senate this upcoming May 12, 2025 elections.
