LOOK: Nancy Binay, Isko Moreno, Carlo Aguilar kick off campaign for mayor
MANILA, Philippines — With the beginning of the campaign season for local candidates in the 2025 midterm elections, mayoral candidates held proclamation rallies Metro Manila.
In Makati City, Senator Nancy Binay started her mayoralty bid by attending Holy Mass at San Ildefonso Parish Church in Barangay Pio del Pilar.
She was joined by her running mate, Monsour del Rosario, as well as the councilors of Makati’s 1st District.
Binay and her co-candidates later held a house-to-house campaign and market tour.
Meanwhile, in Las Piñas, the official candidates of the Nacionalista Party kicked off their campaign at the San Ezekiel Moreno Parish Church along the city’s C5 Extension in Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno.
Sen. Cynthia Villar is running for the lone seat in Congress, while her nephew Carlo Aguilar is running for mayor.
Aguilar underscored the urgent need for a leadership shift in Las Piñas, stating that the city’s decline in competitiveness, urban planning, and basic services has made life increasingly difficult for residents.
“We were once a leading city, but today, we are lagging. Roads remain congested, economic growth is stagnant, and our services have not improved. It’s time for a new Las Piñas,” Aguilar said.
“We need leadership that listens, leadership that acts, and leadership that puts the people first,” he added.
Manila mayoral candidate Isko Moreno Domagoso and vice mayoral candidate Chi Atienza, on the other hand, launched their campaign with a motorcade in the morning and a proclamation rally in Tondo in the evening.
