NAGA CITY—Former Vice President Leni Robredo formally launched her 2025 mayoral campaign here on Friday, leading her slate, Ang Bagong Team Naga, in a series of engagements across the city.

The campaign began at 9 a.m. with a visit to the Naga City People’s Mall, where Robredo and her team interacted with vendors, senior citizens, and local residents.

Camarines Sur Rep. Gabby Bordado Jr., is Robredo’s vice mayoral runningmate.

The councilor slate includes a mix of seasoned public servants and new faces: incumbent councilors Gayle Abonal-Gomez, Jess Albeus, Omar Buenafe, Jose Perez, and Oying Rosales; outgoing city administrator Elmer Baldemoro; outgoing city budget officer Frank Mendoza; former city health officer Dr. Butch Borja; former councilor Miles Raquid-Arroyo; and lawyer Areiz Macaraig.

According to Robredo, the slate was carefully curated through a year-long consultation process to ensure a well-rounded team committed to governance.

During the market visit, Robredo listened to the concerns of vendors and constituents.

She addressed apprehensions about potential renovations to the Naga City People’s Mall, assuring vendors that any structural modifications would be carefully considered to prevent disruptions.

At a program held at the mall’s activity center, the An Bagong Team Naga candidates presented their platforms, noting their diverse backgrounds in law, public administration, healthcare, and law enforcement.

Councilor candidate Jose Perez, speaking during the recent 39th People Power anniversary, criticized candidates who lack legislative experience and genuine commitment to public service.

“It’s not just about knowledge; it’s about having the heart and sincerity to serve. Public office should not be used for personal gain, political dynasties, or fleeting celebrity aspirations,” Perez said.

Robredo reaffirmed her commitment to good governance, transparency, and inclusive progress for Naga City. She outlined key priorities, including improved public services, urban development, traffic management, and flood control. She also emphasized the importance of restoring public trust in leadership through accountable governance.

Expressing her gratitude for the support of Nagueños, Robredo urged the community to rally behind her entire slate, highlighting the rigorous selection process undertaken to form a competent and service-driven team.
