Tiangco says Rizal a swing province in coming elections
MANILA, Philippines — Winning in a vote-rich area like Rizal province could swing the momentum for candidates, according to Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas campaign manager and Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco on Thursday.
Because in the past elections, Rizal had a high vote turnout, scooping votes in the province could spell success.
In a statement, Tiangco acknowledged that Rizal is a powerhouse that could be a source of momentum in the 2025 midterm elections, adding that they will deliver a team that the province’s residents can support.
Alyansa is expected to visit the province’s capital, Antipolo City, for a campaign sortie on Friday.
Powerhouse province
“Rizal is a powerhouse. Its growth, its numbers, and its voter turnout show that this is where national momentum is built,” he said.
“Our candidates are doers. They’ve delivered. When you combine that with (the) infrastructure and economic vision of President Bongbong Marcos, Rizaleños will see a team truly worth supporting,” Tiangco said.
Data from the Commission on Elections showed that in the 2022 national elections, there were 1.601 million registered voters in the province, with 1.298 million exercising their right to suffrage on election day. This translated to a voter turnout of 81.03 percent.
Over 765,000 of the 1.298 million voters picked Marcos in the 2022 presidential race, ahead by more than 393,000 votes to his closest rival, former vice president Leni Robredo.

The campaign sortie in Rizal, which will be held at Antipolo’s Ynares Center, would be Alyansa’s first for April.
“Rizal is young, fast-growing, and full of potential. Alyansa is here to offer leadership that matches that energy and ambition,” Tiangco said.
Senatorial bets
The Alyansa will be fielding the following senatorial candidates:
- Former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos
- Makati City Mayor Abby Binay
- Senator Ramon Bong Revilla
- Senator Pia Cayetano
- Former senator Ping Lacson
- Senator Lito Lapid
- Former senator Manny Pacquiao
- Former Senate president Tito Sotto
- Senator Francis Tolentino
- ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo
- Deputy Speaker Camille Villar.
The sortie in Antipolo would be 12th by the slate, after the team visited Ilocos Norte, Iloilo, and Davao del Norte in the first week of the campaign period. This was followed by stops in Pasay City, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, San Jose del Monte in Bulacan, and Camarines Sur.
Last March 14, the team was in Tacloban, Leyte, before visiting Cavite and Laguna. Alyansa was supposed to make stops in Bulacan and Pampanga, but both sorties were postponed.

Tiangco, on March 25, explained that the two sorties were postponed to allow some senatorial bets to join local candidates at the start of the campaign period for local elections.
This, Tiangco said, allows the senatorial aspirants to engage with leaders and communities at the grassroots level.
