Camille Villar reaffirms commitment to OFWs, rural development
QUEZON PROVINCE — In a recent engagement with sectoral representatives, senatorial aspirant Camille Villar reaffirmed her commitment to the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), recognizing their significant contributions to the Philippine economy.
Villar highlighted long-standing efforts to support OFWs, including legal assistance, repatriation programs, livelihood opportunities, and the establishment of OFW hotlines. She emphasized the importance of continuing these services to protect and empower Filipinos working abroad.
In her address, Villar cited her role in the 18th Congress where she supported the passage of Republic Act 11641, which created the Department of Migrant Workers—an agency dedicated to managing and safeguarding the rights of OFWs.
“I am ready to serve our modern-day heroes,” Villar said, as she pledged to prioritize legislation and programs that directly benefit OFWs and their families.
She also extended her gratitude to Quezon Governor Helen Tan and local officials for their warm reception and support for her senatorial bid, saying their trust allows her to better connect with communities on the ground.
Beyond migrant welfare, Villar also underscored the need to boost agriculture and infrastructure to drive inclusive growth in the countryside.
“We must strike a balance between strengthening agriculture and accelerating infrastructure development to create lasting opportunities,” she said.
As a millennial leader, Villar expressed confidence in her ability to bring innovative ideas to public service. “My goal is to help uplift the life of every Filipino—one day at a time,” she added.
