ZAMBALES, Philippines — Millennial senatorial candidate and Deputy Speaker Camille Villar received a warm welcome in Zambales on Monday as she visited Castillejos, Iba, Olongapo, and other key towns in the province.

The 40-year-old lawmaker earned a major boost in her campaign after being formally endorsed by reelectionist Governor Hermogenes Ebdane, Jr. and a host of local executives.

In a series of town hall-style meetings with senior citizens, socio-civic groups, and youth representatives, Villar underscored the importance of strong collaboration between the national and local governments to effectively address the unique challenges faced by each province.

“Local needs must be met through national support and long-term planning,” Villar said, adding that sustainable development must be both inclusive and locally grounded.

Governor Ebdane, speaking before constituents under the summer sun, praised the Villar family’s long-standing support for Zambales through infrastructure and agriculture initiatives.

“Maraming kandidato sa Senado, pero isa lang ang kandidata natin dito,” Ebdane said, urging residents to support Villar in the upcoming national elections.

“Huwag ninyo kalimutan ang mga taong nakatulong sa inyo,” he added, pointing to Villar’s commitment to public service and grassroots empowerment.

Vice Mayor Christian Esposo, Mayor Jeff Khonghun, and other municipal leaders echoed the governor’s sentiments, further solidifying Villar’s base in Central Luzon.

During an activity dubbed “RICEUP” in Iba, Villar spoke to local farmers and fisherfolk about the importance of agribusiness training, noting its potential to boost productivity and household incomes.

She stressed the importance of nurturing a culture of “sipag at tiyaga” (hard work and perseverance) as keys to long-term success.

Villar also engaged with senior citizens during an assembly led by Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino, Jr. at SMX Olongapo, where she committed to prioritize legislation aimed at enhancing social protection and healthcare access for the elderly.

With just weeks left before the midterm elections, Villar’s visit to Zambales appears to have energized her campaign, anchoring her message of inclusive development, local empowerment, and sectoral representation.
