MANILA, Philippines — House Speaker Martin Romualdez has appealed to his party-mates at the Lakas-CMD to intensify their support for the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate.
He also noted that there should be no ifs and buts.
Romualdez, president of Lakas-CMD, made the call to a huge contingent of the party who attended a breakfast meeting in Malacañang’s Aguado Residence on Tuesday.
“Please lang. Please. Straight Alyansa. Diinan natin lahat sila. Walang iwanan dito. Ito ang gusto ng ating mahal na pangulo,” he said.
(Please. Please. Straight Alyansa. Let us intensify our support for them. No one will be left behind. This is what our beloved president wants.)
“They are our true partners. Subok na subok sila. I know each and everyone of them have proven themselves. Hindi tayo mapapahiya sa taong-bayan,” the speaker promised.
“They are our true partners. They are very well tested. We will not be put to shame before the people.)
“Dapat talaga, diretso tayo dito sa Alyansa. No ifs and buts about it. Ito talaga ang hinihingi ko sa inyo,” he added.
(We should really support Alyansa straight. No ifs and buts about it. This is what I am asking from you.)
Lakas-CMD is part of the five-party team that forms the Alyansa, including Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), the National Unity Party (NUP), and the Nacionalista Party (NP).
Alyansa is fielding an 11-person slate for the 2025 midterm elections.
The senatorial candidates were present during the Lakas-CMD meeting.

While different surveys have indicated that Alyansa members dominate surveys, there have been concerns about the group’s composition, especially after losing Senator Imee Marcos — the President’s sister.
She left the alliance due to the administration’s alleged harsh treatment of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
