Sara Duterte not endorsing any Cebu gubernatorial bet

MANILA, Philippines — As the May 2025 midterm elections approach, Vice President Sara Duterte recently said she has yet to endorse any gubernatorial candidate in Cebu.

Duterte made the clarification after she was spotted with Pam Baricuatro, who is running for Cebu governor.

“Wala namang mga ganun (there was no such thing),” said Duterte in a recent chance interview when asked if she is endorsing Baricuatro.

According to Duterte, Barcuatro is an old friend who she just happened to have run into while the latter was campaigning in northern Cebu.

“Wala akong interactions with mga governor candidates…nasalubong [lang] ko yung isang candidate si Miss Pam Baricuatro,” said Duterte.

(I have no interactions with the gubernatorial candidates…I only met one candidate, Miss Pam Baricuatro.)

The vice president said she merely thanked Baricuatro for her support for former President Rodrigo Duterte during their conversation.
