MANILA, Philippines — Pope Francis was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Dec. 17, 1936, and died of a stroke at his official home at the Domus Sanctae Marthae in the Vatican. He was 88.
He will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10 am local time (4 pm in the Philippines) at St. Peter’s Square.
Some 200,000 visitors are expected to attend — among them world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and Prince William of the United Kingdom.
