1Pacman Party-list eyeing ‘abot-kaya’ food prices
MANILA, Philippines – 1Pacman Party-list recently vowed to lead initiatives to keep the food prices more affordable and reasonable.
“Sasabihin nating ‘sumasakses’ o successful na kung mahigpit nating babantayan ang presyo ng pagkain sa palengke,” said Milka Romero, first nominee of 1Pacman Party-list.
Romero recently visited the Dao Tagbilaran City market to check on vendors’ and market-goers’ plight these days
“Affordable food prices are twin elements of proper nutrition and healthcare for the people,” said Romero, as she presented vendors with 1Pacman aprons.
“Itong mga apron na ito ay simbolo ng kakayahan ng mga kababaihan. Nakasalalay sa mga ina at mga taga pag- alaga ng mga kabataan na panatilihing malusog ang pamilya,” she said,
Romero was also one of the distinguished judges in the recent Mutya ng Tagbilaran pageant, which was held as part of the Saulog festival of the city.
She noted how valuable it is for young women, through this and similar contests, to fully express their advocacies and commitment to uplift women’s capacities to be change agents in their communities and through their careers and life choices.
1Pacman’s shoutout with “Champion sa Sports, Champion sa Buhay” is linked to meeting the basic needs of health and wellness, education, and job opportunities.
1Pacman is the endorsed party-list of Asenso Pa More camp of reelectionist Mayor Jane Yap, and congressional aspirant Baba Yap.
Romero has been persistent in reaching out to Boholanos and other locals in the Visayas about the benefits to be derived by townsfolks with a reliable party-list working in tandem with the local government units.
“Mas may tutok tayo sa mga outreach projects tulad ng feeding programs, medical and health consultations, scholarships at training for livelihood, kung kaagapay ang mga LGUs,” said Romero.
1Pacman has had a sterling record of outreach performance in its last nine years in Congress under Rep. Mikee Romero, chairman of the House committee on poverty alleviation.
Over 30,000 scholarships, 75,000 family beneficiaries for medical assistance, continuous feeding programs and livelihood training have been conducted nationwide by 1Pacman, aside from the the 145 laws authored and co-authored by 1Pacman.
“Track record is a good builder of trust,” said Romero.
