MANILA, Philippines — About 12,849 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel have already cast their ballots in the local absentee voting for the 2025 national and local elections.
Local absentee voting began on Monday, April 28.
Data from the PNP Public Information Office (PIO) on Tuesday showed that 985 out of 1,471, or 61.52 percent, of PNP national headquarters personnel had already voted as of April 29 at noon.
Meanwhile, the PNP PIO data said that 11,891 out of 19,752, or 60.20 percent of PNP personnel in police regional offices (PROs) across the country, have also cast their ballots.
“[I]to yung tanging political exercise na pwedeng salihan ng miyembro ng PNP, to exercise your right to vote,” PNP PIO chief Col. Randulf Tuaño said in a press briefing at Camp Crame also on Tuesday.
(This is the sole political exercise that members of the PNP can join in, to exercise your right to vote.)
More than 57,000 local absentee voters, a relatively small sector but whose votes could be a potential game changer in the senatorial race decided by a razor thin margin, begin casting their ballots on Monday.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman George Erwin Garcia had said the votes of these government employees, police and military personnel, as well as members of the media could decide the fate of senatorial candidates gunning for “Magic 12.”
