MANILA, Philippines — In a surprising move seven days before the 2025 midterm polls, Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel endorsed the full senatorial slate of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Pimentel made the pronouncement on Monday, saying that the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas is composed of “capable” senatorial candidates who can “help the President pass important laws and fulfill his plans for the country.”

“Let’s help President Bongbong Marcos succeed by electing the senators he has endorsed. I have personally witnessed his sincerity, his deep love for the country, and his genuine concern for all Filipinos—regardless of political affiliation,” said Pimentel in a statement.

He then proceeded to tell the public to use their “KoKote” which translates to brain, emphasizing that it should be the nation’s interest to “support [the] President and ensure the success of his final three years in the office.”

In a separate message to Inquirer.net, Pimentel said there is a need for the people to give the President all the opportunities to succeed in his last three years in office.

The Alyansa slate includes the following senatorial hopefuls:

  • Former Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos
  • Makati City Mayor Abby Binay
  • Senator Ramon Bong Revilla
  • Senator Pia Cayetano
  • Former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson
  • Senator Lito Lapid
  • Former Senator Manny Pacquiao
  • Former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III
  • Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino
  • ACT-CIS Representative and former Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo
  • Deputy Speaker Camille Villar

Presidential sister Sen. Imee Marcos used to be a part of the slate, but she left the Alyansa days after the arrest of her close friend, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
