Garcia assures Alyansa slate of Cebu win: We have true people, not trolls
Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia endorses Alyansa senatorial candidates in One Cebu proclamation rally.
MANILA, Philippines — Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has assured President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. that the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas Senate slate of a victory in the 2025 midterm elections, noting that Cebuanos are true people and not mere trolls.
Garcia, during the One Cebu rally in the municipality of Dumanhug, said that Cebuanos respect Marcos especially since he fulfilled his promise of bringing down rice prices to P20 per kilogram — a program initiated in Visayas provinces.
“Mr. President, this is the voice of the real people. These are not trolls, nor created AI (artificial intelligence) bots or voices coming from other countries. Ito po ang mga Dumanhuganon, sila po ang mga Sugbuanon patuloy kaming rumerespeto sa inyo, lalong-lalo na ngayon, meron nang benteng bigas per kilo,” she said.
(Mr. President, this is the voice of the real people. These are not trolls, nor created AI bots or voices coming from other countries. These are Dumanhuganon, they are Cebuanos who continue to respect you, especially now that we have a P20 per kilogram of rice.)
“Rest assured — because that is what we leaders are expected to do, to provide direction — muhatag ug direksyon sa mga panahon na may sala-ag, kahilabihan na kadaghan ang fake news — this governor will remain steadfast and so will the entire leadership of this entire island,” she added.
“We are for unity, we are for progress, because we are One Cebu, solid behind the duly-elected President of the Republic of the Philippines who knows how to keep his word.”

Garcia asked the audience to support Alyansa’s senatorial candidates, from former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, former senators Ping Lacson and Manny Pacquiao, Senator Bong Revilla, former Senate President Tito Sotto, Senator Lito Lapid, Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino and Senator Pia Cayetano.
The governor then endorsed ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo despite his past feud with the latter’s brother, Senator Raffy Tulfo, over an inspection of a bus terminal and the collection of fees for comfort room use.

“There were those who said that we should not support any Tulfo […] but even among relatives, there are those who do not think the same,” Garcia said in Cebuano.
“And so, in deference to the President and because I do believe this senatoriable is ready to defend Cebu, we will also support Erwin Tulfo.
Garcia also said that she is leaving it to the public to decide who will be their 12th senatorial bet, as the Alyansa has 11 candidates.
“There is only one spot left, who is the eleventh, the twelfth, it is already up to you. It’s your choice, but we have eleven people to support. It’s a Solid Cebu vote, which is equivalent to 3.4 million votes,” she said.
“Let us show what unity can bring. We have eleven […] our Alyansa candidates, let’s support them, shall we?” she added.
Marcos meanwhile thanked Cebu for its support to the Alyansa slate, noting that the province remains an inspiration for their platform of unity, as concerted efforts have allowed the area to prosper.
