Comelec assures AES ‘can operate properly, securely, and accurately’
MANILA, Philippines — As the polls near, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) revealed that it had issued a certification of the automated election system (AES) for the May 12 national and local elections.
Citing the certification, Comelec assured that the AES “can operate properly, securely, and accurately.”
According to the commission, the certification was created by the technical evaluation committee (TEC) pursuant to Section 10 of the Republic Act (RA) No. 8436 as amended by RA No. 9369.

It is also “the last and final component necessary for the full implementation of Comelec’s full automation system with transparency audit/count (FASTrAC), secure electronic transmission services (SETS), and the online voting and counting system (OVCS).”
Comelec said the TEC issued the certification upon the recommendation of the commission’s advisory council in compliance with the requirements of the Automated Elections System Act.
