MANILA, Philippines — As the polls near, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) revealed that it had issued a certification of the automated election system (AES) for the May 12 national and local elections.

Citing the certification, Comelec assured that the AES “can operate properly, securely, and accurately.”

According to the commission, the certification was created by the technical evaluation committee (TEC) pursuant to Section 10 of the Republic Act (RA) No. 8436 as amended by RA No. 9369.
