MANILA, Philippines — The disqualification complaint against Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez and his wife, 2nd District Rep. Ruth Hernandez, was withdrawn, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Based on a document released by the Comelec on Monday, petitioners Ma. Lanites Greganda, Darren John Cantalejo, Alena Nicole Dequillo, and Niño Greganda filed the motion to withdraw before the poll body through their lawyer, Kenneth Beo.

In the document, Greganda said her nephew Cantalejo informed her that their names were mentioned in a news story posted on social media, stating that they filed a disqualification case against the two Laguna officials.

However, the petitioners said they did not sign any complaint against the two public officials and had not met with the lawyers present during the filing of the complaint.

“We have conducted this report voluntarily, and no one has forced or promised us any reward,” they said in Filipino.

“We are also asking for immediate action on this because we are already experiencing bullying on social media in relation to the post regarding the filing of a case,” they added.
