MANILA, Philippines — The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas still considers the results of the 2025 senatorial race as a vote of confidence for the administration, as most of the coalition’s candidates are poised to win Senate seats, campaign manager and Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco said on Tuesday.

In a statement sent to reporters, Tiangco said that the objective of the Alyansa was to “rally support” for senatorial candidates who will support the legislative agenda of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration.

With six of the Alyansa bets inside the Magic 12 of the partial and unofficial results shown by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) transparency servers, Tiangco said this is a win.

“The objective of the Alyansa campaign was to rally support for the election of senators who could bring their competence and experience to the Senate and help the administration in its efforts to uplift the welfare of our kababayans,” Tiangco said.

“In this regard, we consider the victory of most of our candidates a vote of confidence in the Bagong Pilipinas vision of progress, where all Filipinos can live better lives with real economic opportunities for all. Their vote affirms our shared commitment to continue the country’s economic gains and preserve the momentum of growth,” he added.

As of 2:32 p.m. on Tuesday, the partial and unofficial count from Comelec’s transparency server showed the highest-ranked Alyansa candidate is ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo, at fourth with 16.80 million votes.

After Tulfo are five other Alyansa stalwarts:

former senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson (7th, 14.84 million)
former Senate president Vicente “Tito” Sotto III (8th, 14.59 million)
Senator Pia Cayetano (9th, 14.29 million)
Deputy Speaker Camille Villar (10th, 13.35 million)
Senator Lito Lapid (10th, 13.11 million)

Despite having six bets in the prospective Magic 12, many observers and netizens believe that the Alyansa underperformed, as pre-election surveys showed that either eight or nine of the administration-backed candidates would win.

Days before the elections, a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed that Tulfo was the front-runner, holding the top spot with 45 percent of the respondents’ votes.  His current fourth-place ranking means he lost three spots.

Sotto, meanwhile, was poised to be ranked third, but instead, partial and unofficial tallies see him slipping down to eight.  Lapid was fourth, and now 10th, while Binay and Revilla — who were holding the seventh and 11th spots in the SWS survey — are currently out of the Magic 12, ranking 15th and 14th instead.

A separate survey from OCTA Research, meanwhile, showed that eight of the 11-person slate are inside the Magic 12 — including Tulfo, Sotto, Cayetano, Revilla, Binay, Lapid, Lacson, and Villar.

Still, Tiangco said this is a “clear signal” to move forward with the administration’s legislative agenda and address the people’s top issues.
