Father-son tandem wins top posts in Ilagan City

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — The father-and-son team of incumbent Mayor Josemarie “Jay” Diaz and Councilor Jayve Diaz was proclaimed winners of the mayoral and vice mayoral races in Ilagan City in the early hours of Tuesday, May 13.

Mayor Diaz secured a landslide victory with 74,188 votes, defeating challenger lawyer Gideon Ventura, who received 6,931 votes. His son, Jayve, won the vice mayoralty with 60,723 votes, outpacing former councilor Margarette Uy-Chin, who garnered 20,935 votes, and Hermogenes Antonio, who received 375.

“I am very thankful for the trust as I serve my third and final term as mayor,” Jay Diaz said following his proclamation.

Jayve Diaz described his win as a “calling for service” and pledged to “take action as a public servant and always deliver results.”

Elected to the city council were Rachel Villanueva-Garcia, Kyrill “Kit” Bello, Harold Olalia, Josephine Baggao-Borromeo, Rolly Tugade, Lillian Bringas, Antonio Manaligod Jr., Perlita Gaoiran, Gaylor Malunay, and Maria Victoria “Bic-Bic” Albano.
