MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) told winners of the 2025 local elections to “stay grounded” in their communities.
On Monday, voters trooped to their polling precincts to elect 82 governors and vice-governors, 840 Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, 1,642 mayors and vice-mayors, 1,690 Sangguniang Panlungsod members and 11,948 Sangguniang Bayan members.
“We urge our new leaders to stay grounded in the realities of their communities, develop responsive policies, and pursue programs that reflect the needs and aspirations of their constituents,” the DILG said in a statement on Tuesday.
“With a renewed mandate from the people, these officials must now prepare for the complex responsibilities of local governance,” it added.
