Bong Go on senatorial race win: ‘God is fair’

MANILA, Philippines — Incumbent Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Tuesday expressed his gratitude to God and his supporters after securing the top spot of the senatorial race based on the unofficial and partial results.

According to partial and unofficial results, Go maintained his lead with 26,485,514 votes as of 11:32 p.m. Go was at the forefront of senatorial surveys conducted prior to the midterm polls.

“Truly, God is good. God is fair,” Go wrote in his Facebook post.

“Maraming salamat sa Panginoon sa buhay at gabay, at sa buong sambayanang Pilipino sa tiwala at suporta sa isang simpleng probinsyanong binigyan ninyo ng pagkakataong magsilbi sa bayan,” Go added.

(I thank God for the life and guidance, and to the Filipino people for their support for a simple province man who was given the opportunity to serve the public.)

Go also vowed to push for public service like food and job security, education, and health.

Go, a long time ally of former President Rodrigo Duterte, is one of the “DuterTEN” senatorial candidates endorsed by the former president currently detained at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the Netherlands for alleged crimes against humanity. Aside from him, incumbent senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and Rep. Rodante Marcoleta also secured spots in the Senate winning circle.

The Commission on Elections on Tuesday said that winning senatorial candidates may be proclaimed by Saturday the earliest at the Manila Hotel Tent City. /cb
