MANILA, Philippines — Newly proclaimed Senator-elect Camille Villar thanked her parents, outgoing Sen. Cynthia Villar and former Senate President Manny Villar, for helping her pursue her dream of serving the people.
“Papa, I remember I told you when I was younger that it was my dream to be like you and to serve and to help as many people as I could,” Villar said, turning emotional in her message after she was proclaimed senator-elect on Saturday afternoon.
“Thank you for helping me achieve my dreams and making my dreams come true,” she added.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed Villar the 10th-ranking senator with 13,651,274 votes in a ceremony at the Manila Hotel.
