Bam Aquino vows education reform in Senate comeback

MANILA, Philippines — Newly proclaimed Senator-elect Paulo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV vowed to work for reforms in education in his return to the upper chamber of Congress.
“To the Filipino youth, we cannot thank you enough. Thank you so much. The mandate you gave me, I will not waste,” Aquino said in Filipino in his speech after being proclaimed in a ceremony at the Manila Hotel on Saturday.
“The mandate you gave me, we will take care of and ensure that we will work every day on reforms to education, jobs and uplifting the lives of fellow Filipinos and Filipino families,” he added.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed Aquino as the second-ranking senator with 20,971,899 votes

Aquino anchored his Senate comeback campaign on his role in the passage of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.
He ran under the Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino party, which paired up in tandem with Liberal Party candidate and now fellow Senator-elect Francis Pangilinan. /atm
