MANILA, Philippines — Senator-elect Pia Cayetano on Saturday said that she is looking forward to mentoring young leaders like Camille Villar as a way of giving back to the public servants she looked up to.
Cayetano made this statement as she was officially proclaimed as senator of the May 2025 midterm elections.
As Cayetano recalled her memory of being elected as a young senator 21 years ago, she said that she “had the privilege” of watching the work of late senators such as Miriam Santiago, Edgardo Angara, Joker Arroyo, Juan Flavier, and Nene Pimentel.
“I know it’s now my time to give back, not only to lead by example but to uphold and conduct myself in a manner of becoming senator but also to mentor the young,” Cayetano said in her speech.
