MANILA, Philippines — Newly proclaimed Senator-elect Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said on Saturday that he wanted to build a legacy that would inspire “future Sottos” to serve the Filipino people.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed Sotto as the eighth-ranking senator with 14,832,996 votes in a ceremony at the Manila Hotel.
“I want to leave behind a good legacy not only for myself but also for those who came before me, Sen. Vicente Yap Sotto and Sen. Filemon Sotto,” he said in Filipino in his speech after being proclaimed.
“Most especially for the future generations of Sottos who will serve the Filipino people,” he added.
He ran under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate.
His son, Gian, won a third term as Quezon City vice mayor in the 2025 local elections.
Meanwhile, his nephew, Vico, won a third term as Pasig City mayor.

When asked about a potential run for a national position, the Pasig mayor said he did not want to look “too far” ahead.
When he launched his bid for a third term as Pasig mayor last March, his father, veteran actor Vic Sotto, introduced him as the Philippines’ “next president.” /atm
