MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off Cebu on Tuesday night, killing at least 61 people, damaging heritage churches and other structures, and knocking out power in parts of the central Philippines, authorities said.
The earthquake’s epicenter was traced to Bogo City, where at least 27 people have been confirmed dead, said the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Wednesday morning.
