Comelec: No voter registration, certification on Mondays of April 2026

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will not be processing voters’ registration or certifications on all Mondays of April 2026 as the poll body will be adopting a work-from-home arrangement effective April 6, 13, 20, and 27 this year.
This is in line with the resolution adopted by the Comelec en banc on Wednesday which recommended the transition into a work-from-home schedule for the main and field offices every Monday of April 2026 in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s declaration of national energy emergency amid the ongoing tension in the Middle East.

The poll body noted that it will still implement its standard operations on Tuesdays to Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will continue to process voters’ registration, voters’ certification, and other transactions during these days.
The poll body earlier released its energy conservation protocol in line with the Republic Act No. 11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act of 2018, and the Memorandum Circular No. 114 issued by Marcos, which directed government agencies to adopt energy-saving protocols.

It noted that the protocol will be applicable to the Comelec main office, including the offices of the regional election directors, provincial election supervisors, and election officers.
The Comelec also postponed the conduct of the Election Expo Convention and Conference, including the Asian Electoral Stakeholders Forum VII and the Philippine Election Expo originally scheduled for April 21-23, 2026, and the National Goodwill Games originally scheduled for May 8-10, 2026.
However, it clarified that activities directly related to the conduct and preparation of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, Bangsamoro parliamentary elections, and the 2028 national and local elections will be exempted from this policy. Also excluded from the postponement are the resolution of electoral controversies, activities in compliance with the provision of laws, rules, and regulations. /jpv
