We’re observing today the 23rd anniversary of INQUIRER.net, or Dotnet for short.
We’re going to celebrate it in a simple but meaningful way, considering the trying times we’re all in. The COVID-19 pandemic challenged us to be more creative and resourceful to cope and survive. Despite the difficult situation, our reporters continue to monitor, gather and file news stories as they happen to inform the public of the latest news from the safety of their homes. Our video teams continue to patrol the streets and cover news events, providing footages and video clips on news developments.
Dotnet strives to provide reliable and credible information to readers’ questions. We’ve adopted several innovative features to enhance content. For instance, to help clarify the deluge of information online and on social media about the pandemic, we did the Info Desk. At present, we’re doing the Hospital Watch to update the public on where they can go and be treated if stricken by the virus.
As a result, because of your continued trust in our credibility and reliability, Dotnet continued its growth as shown by a 52 percent increase in site users from 2018 to August 2020. We remain No. 4 in the Alexa rankings of top Philippines news sites. There’s reason to be upbeat with the Sales and Marketing team reporting a positive outlook on our revenue stream. For this, we thank you for your support and hope that you will continue to be our partners as we chart our way into the future.
The anniversary theme this year—INQUIRER.net@23: We are you—is a reiteration of our vision and mission of reaching out to all Filipinos wherever and whenever they are. To provide them with news and information 24/7 that, we hope, will help them hurdle the challenges they’re facing.
To the management and staff of INQUIRER.net, congratulations!
The observance of INQUIRER.net’s 23rd anniversary today could not have come at an inauspicious time. COVID-19 struck at the start of the year, hurting businesses (including the media industry) and people everywhere. With no clear indication of when the contagion will finally end, the future seems more uncertain than ever before. Experts say it will take more than sheer will and determination to overcome the challenges.
