FPJ Panday Bayanihan supporters underscore legacy of ‘Da King’

MANILA, Philippines — Supporters of FPJ Panday Bayanihan party-list said on Thursday that the legacy and track record of Fernando Poe Jr., dubbed as ‘FPJ’ and ‘Da King,’ are among the reasons why they are supporting the party-list.

Supporters gathered outside the Manila Hotel Tent for the third day of filing of certificate of candidacy for the 2025 elections as the party-list is set to file its certificate of nomination and acceptance.

They were also heard chanting the name of the late actor.

For Jessie Delgado, the Manila coordinator of the party-list, clean record is important in public service.

“Importante yung malinis na pagtatrabaho sa gubyerno. Alam nyo naman, puro corruption ngayon. Nando’n yung pangmasang bayanihan,” Delgado said.

(Clean record is important in public service. You know, corruption is rampant nowadays. Nation building is there.)

Delgado also noted he did not just support the party-list solely because of FPJ.

“Base sa record nya, pati ng pamilya nya, tinitingnan natin yung criteria nila so wala naman tayong nakikitang masama sa batikos, pangit sa pamilya nila. Magaganda naman yung record nila.”

(Based on his record and his family, we look at the criteria and we do not see any wrong or criticisms towards the family. Their record is good.)

Further, FPJ Youth deputy for political affairs Sean Quinto emphasized that the legacy of FPJ and his family are more than how they see FPJ in the television and movies.

“Hindi naman maikakaila bilang Pilipino na talagang kilala natin si FPJ. Lagpas do’n sa paghanga sa kung paano nating nakikita sa telebisyon si FPJ is yung talagang ginagawa ni FPJ,” Quinto said.

(We can’t deny that Filipinos know FPJ. His advocacies are beyond the admiration on how we see him in television.)

“At the same time, pinagpapatuloy ng pamilya nya simula kay Senator Grace Poe until now kay Kuya Brian Poe Llamanzares,” he added.

(At the same time, his family, from Senator Grace Poe up to Brian Poe Llamanzares continue his legacy.)

Quinto also shared how they personally witnessed how the party-list uplifts the youth sector.

“Nakita natin at naranasan natin mismo yung tunay na pakialam ng FPJ Bayanihan party-list kung saan bihira sa mga kandidato at mga politiko na mas nagiging grounded ang nararanasan ng mga kabataan,” Quinto said.

(We see and experience how FPJ Bayanihan party-list cares and how they are grounded to the experiences of the youth, unlike other candidates and politicians.)

The party-list’s first nominee is Brian Poe Llamanzares, the son of Senator Grace Poe.
