Ex-CSC chair Nograles files COC for Davao City mayoral post

DAVAO CITY — Recently resigned Civil Service Commission (CSC) chair Karlo Alexie Nograles has sought this city’s top post in the 2025 midterm elections.

Nograles filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor on Tuesday morning, a day after it was made public that he had resigned from his CSC post.

Nograles will square off with former president Rodrigo Duterte who filed his COC for mayor on Sunday. Two other bets have also filed COCs for mayor as of noon on Tuesday.

Nograles is running as an independent candidate.

His sister, PBA partylist Rep. Margarita Nograles, also filed a COC for the representative of the city’s first congressional district, pitting her against Duterte’s son Paolo.

Karlo and Margarita are children of the late House Speaker Prospero Nograles, a known political nemesis of Duterte.
