TAGBILARAN CITY – Councilor Malvin Misael “Atoy” Torralba, who vowed to protect the city from reclamation projects, is challenging the reelection bid of Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap.
Torralba, 48 and number one councilor in 2022 elections, filed his Certificate of Candidacy before the Commission on Elections here on Monday, along with members of the Abante Tagbilaran slate.
He was accompanied by his parents – former Tagbilaran Mayor Jose Torralba and former city councilor Betty Co-Torralba.
Torralba’s running mate is Jose Antonio “Toto” Veloso whoserved as vice mayor from 2013 to 2022.
Torralba, who is opposing proposed reclamation projects in the city, said the “current administration’s directions are anti- environment, anti-poor and anti- Tagbilaran.”
He would address the “poorly managed urban development, the barely existing drainage system and no sewerage system and lack of access to reliable potable water.”
” We make it sure that the voice of the people will be heard and they have access to the services of Tagbilaran City,” said Torralba.
“Ang asenso dapat mabati sa katawhan (Progress should be felt by the people),” he added.
