Willie Revillame: ‘Now is right time for me to run for senator'

MANILA, Philippines — Senatorial candidate Willie Revillame said now is the “right time” for him to join the senatorial race after 27 years as a television show host.

The comment came as he faced the media at a press conference in Pasig City on Friday.

“I’ve been doing TV shows for 27 years—27 years of listening to people, understanding their needs, and sensing what needs to be done. I think this is the right time for me, the perfect moment, to extend my help to everyone, not just within the studio,” he said in Filipino.

“It’s not just about giving away jackets, cellphones, ₱10,000 or ₱20,000. What we need now is a broader and more meaningful way to help our fellow citizens,” he added.

Revillame was asked about his campaign strategy and the possibility of an election win.

He recently ranked fourth to 11th with 48 percent on an Octa Research survey.

“You know, campaign strategy doesn’t really matter. I think what’s important is that people will listen to you if what you’re saying is true. We’re not sitting around planning strategies—none of that. Helping should come from the heart,” he said.
