MANILA, Philippines — Regional party-list group Pilipinas Babangon Muli (PBBM) faces a disqualification case before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) over alleged irregularities in the declared residence of its nominees.

Jess Christian Ramirez filed a petition last March 7 to cancel the registration of PBBM, the 7th party-list in the ballots seeking a House of Representative post in the upcoming midterm polls.

However, Ramirez noted that the “PBBM made untruthful statements in its Petition for Registration by representing that it would cater to or represent Calabarzon yet none of its programs, activities, or nominees are connected to or originate from the said region.”

Ramirez noted that most of the 10 nominees of the party declared their residence to be at Abra, which is not part of the Calabarzon region.

“These findings expose PBBM’s clear and deliberate misrepresentation in claiming to be a regional political party representing Calabarzon while exclusively fielding nominees outside the region,” he said.

INQUIRER.net sought the comment of PBBM party-list on Tuesday but it has yet to respond as of posting.
