MANILA, Philippines — The number coding scheme in Metro Manila is suspended as millions of Filipinos cast their ballots on Monday, Election Day, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
The MMDA announced the suspension of the number coding scheme in an advisory last week.
“The implementation of the Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or number coding scheme, is suspended on Monday, May 12, 2025, election day,” the MMDA said.
The Palace earlier announced that Election Day is a special non-working holiday.

A liquor ban is also in effect from May 11 until May 12.

More than 68 million registered voters could now cast their ballots for the midterm elections, where 18,255 elective local and national posts are up for grabs.
