NABUA, CAMARINES SUR — The Villafuerte clan has reaffirmed its dominance in Camarines Sur province, securing significant victories for different positions in the 2025 midterm local and national elections.
While the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has yet to formally proclaim the winners, unofficial tallies and transmitted election returns confirm that the Villafuertes are leading by wide margins.
Incumbent Governor Vincenzo Renato Luigi Villafuerte is poised to assume a new role as the representative of Camarines Sur’s 2nd District. His father, 2nd District Representative Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte, is set to return to the province’s top executive post, regaining the gubernatorial seat he once held.
Meanwhile, Miguel Luis “Migz” Villafuerte, former governor and current 5th District Representative, is on track to secure re-election.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, May 13, LRay Villafuerte expressed his gratitude to Camarines Sur voters.
“With deep humility and gratitude, I thank the people of CamSur for placing their trust in me and my family. The voice of the people has spoken, and I am honored to return as your Governor,” he said.
Villafuerte acknowledged the rare opportunity to be elected again to the same position and vowed to continue delivering programs that bring meaningful change to the province.
“Not everyone is given a second chance to serve in the same position. I will use this opportunity to continue the programs that truly make a difference for our people,” he added.

Calling for reconciliation after the heated campaign season, Villafuerte emphasized unity and progress.
“Now is the time for healing and unity. Let us come together, rise above differences, and work as one to uplift every Camarinense and CAMSUReño,” he said. “With faith, hope, and service—let’s continue to build a better and brighter CamSur, together.”
Formal proclamations by the Comelec are expected to happen today. /jpv
