MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia on Wednesday announced that the certificates of nomination and acceptance (Cona) of party-list group nominees are already published in its website.
Garcia previously said that the poll body will release the CON-CAN and certificates of candidacy (COCs) of poll aspirants and party-lists in the website for the first time.
He said the move is aimed at preventing cases similar to dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, who ran for public office despite having alleged false information in her COC.
The displayed CON-CAN in the website features redacted information of the nominees.
“We reduced the information from each of the 44,000 candidates because we think that data privacy might be violated if we did not remove them,” Garcia said in Filipino during a previous ambush interview.
Comelec also released the COCs of senatorial aspirants in its website.
